Identifile: Desktop Dungeon is a cursor-based action roguelike set inside your infected operating system. It blends the frantic action of bullet hell games with the exploration of a file system. Navigate folders like dungeon rooms, delete viruses by using effect-laced cursors, stand up to imposing bosses and level up with EXEs in this one-of-a-kind, action-packed roguelike.

“One of my biggest inspirations for the game initially was Pokémon Ranger’s combat system”, said Tang Leejed (aka SylverDev), Creative Director at Gearbyte Games. “There was no game out there that quite scratches that itch for me. This ignited a fire in me, and we set out to merge the classic control style and feel with unique concepts, like reliving the nostalgia of old-school operating systems and exploring the modern roguelike dungeon crawler genre”.

“I wanted to create a game that I wanted to play. I expanded the game to explore other playstyles. I relived my childhood, picking out ideas from my favourite games—The Binding of Isaac, Risk of Rain, Undertale, osu! and Bullet Heaven games. I wanted to create the ultimate cursor roguelike that truly reflects the joy I felt playing those games”.
